Insightful Solutions for Body
Aikido
The true martial arts fill us with the ki of the Universe and help us preserve the Peace of the world. - Morihei Ueshiba, Founder of Aikido
Aikido is a Japanese martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba during the 1930s. Aikido means "way of life through harmony." Fundamentally Aikido focuses on coordinating your mind and body to a high level of conditioning.
The practice of Aikido is an elegant study in centering yourself while focusing on the midpoint just below the navel (Core or Center). By placing your attention here, you confirm your intention of moving from a very coordinated Mindbody state. When you empty or free your mind of distracting thoughts, you are more receptive to your surroundings and the options presented. If your mental cup is full, then how can you receive more information? By emptying the cup, you actually become more capable of receiving.
Incorporating knowledge of your Core, Aikido teaches you to stay attuned to yourself, within and outside yourself. Staying connected to your senses allows you to express your intentions from your Core outward, rather than only from your head. By actively involving your mind and body, your senses absorb more detail and help you make skillful decisions about your environments and the other areas of your life.
We incorporate Aikido principles into both our individual consultations and group trainings. This experiential process in Mindbody coordination deepens people's understanding of how to improve their situation and allows them deeper personal insights.
