Shortcut Strain Did you grow up thinking that the harder you worked, the more you would achieve? The bigger the task, the greater the force needed. We thought that if we "really tried hard," things would happen as we wanted, even though taking action in this frame of mind created tension within us. The natural unfolding of things is overcome with hurried thoughts and irrational pressure to produce something. Sometimes through sheer endurance, we would prevail but at the expense of our own well-being.
Stressed and emotionally drained, we would cross the proverbial finish line and collapse from so much unnecessary exertion.
